Part time Mental Health Nurse - RN
Peak Wellness Center

Salary Range:

$30 - $40,000 per year DOE - health; dental; vision; life; AFLAC; FSA; vacation, holiday and sick leave; retirement; staff development available

Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Degree in nursing with significant experience in a clinical setting. Some experience in the mental health setting specifically with respect to clients with a severe and persistent mental illness.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Administration of medication, as ordered and prescribed by the physician and nurse practitioner.
2. Provides medication management services. Provides education regarding side effects and assesses effectiveness of medication. Notifies physician/PNP of side effects or other concerns and/or lack of effectiveness.
3. Arranges medication refills, as ordered and prescribed by the physician/PNP order.
4. Assists physician/PNP with patient assistance programs.
5. Maintains medication supply closet and is responsible for CARF protocol for accountability.
6. Promotes wellness, i.e. encourages regular physical checks with primary physician. Provides education about health issues and medications to client.
7.Provides medical case management assistance to clients in collaboration with primary therapist.
8. Develops and maintains positive working relationship with other community providers. Collaborates with other Peak Wellness Center staff and community providers to promote optimal health of client as reflected in the treatment plan.
9. Maintains case records to reflect course of treatment and provide required documentation.
10. Provides consultation and education services internally, as well as to other community groups/agencies to promote understanding of mental illness and reduce stigma related to mental illness.
11. Provides education internally to all staff in compliance with CARF requirements for accreditation. Specific duties determined by agency.
12. Assists with providing and monitoring the following CARF requirements for Center staff: yearly TB tests, Hepatitis B injections, and flu shots.
13. Arranges for and assists with yearly client flu clinics provided by Public Health Department.
14. Assists in setting up and monitoring medication boxes for clients in PWC apartment complexes. Assists clients in managing and monitoring medications in home setting.
15. Attends ARS team and all staff meetings, supervisory conferences, and other activities that ensure the smooth functioning of Clinic operations.
16 Monitors lab reports and relays results to the physician/PNP, client, and primary therapist.
17. Monitors weights/vital signs as ordered by the physician/PNP.
18. Other duties as assigned by supervisors/Executive Director.
