For over 30 years Southwest Counseling Service (SCS) has been providing professional mental health and substance abuse treatment in Sweetwater County. SCS is committed to continuous improvement, while providing the most professional and effective treatment services.

With the recent addition of the new Recovery Services facility, SCS now has five different treatment facilities with different service functions. SCS offers treatment specific to each client's therapeutic needs. These services include: the treatment of mental illness, substance abuse recovery services, child, adolescent and family services, therapeutic foster care services, psychosocial treatment services, psychiatric services, and twenty-four hour crisis intervention.

Outpatient Mental Health Services

Southwest Counseling Service offers treatment specific to each client's therapeutic needs, whether they are individual, group, family, or couples counseling.

This continuum of service is aimed not only at treating mental illnesses, but preventing them as well.

SCS provides 24-hour crisis intervention through our on-call services. You can call us at 352-6677 or 872-3205 to reach the on-call clinician 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

We also provide psychiatric services to those who will benefit from medication. We have three psychiatrists and a nurse practitioner who conduct assessments, prescribe and monitor medications, and participate in comprehensive case planning to provide clients with the most thorough and effective treatment.

Recovery Services

Southwest Counseling's recovery services programs are designed to assist individuals and their families successfully reach the road to recovery.

Treatment is designed to provide support, education, skills, knowledge and tools to combat addiction. These services include substance abuse assessments, individual, couple and family treatment, as well as residential, intensive outpatient, continuing care, and a Basic Alcohol and Traffic Safety (DUI) class.

We also provide an ongoing prevention program to educate youth and the community in general about the dangers of drugs, alcohol and tobacco. Through our prevention and public awareness programs we have available, to those interested, educational videos, books and pamphlets.

Psychosocial Services

SCS provides a comprehensive Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program that is aimed at improving the lives of individuals who have a psychiatric disability.

Our agency offers job coaching, day treatment, 24-hour residential supervision, semi-independent living arrangements, and psychiatric services.

SCS also offers a means of socializing with others in the community through our Community Center. This homelike environment allows individuals to work on social interaction as well as participate in recreational activities.

All individuals receive treatment based on a network of agencies and resources to give them the greatest opportunity to achieve an independent and fulfilling life.

Child, Adolescent and Family Services

Southeast Counseling offers a full range of treatment for children and adolescents. Our adolescent program addresses the needs of teens who have a diagnosed mental, behavioral or emotional disorder, a substance abuse disorder or both. Our agency's Therapeutic Foster Care program is affiliated with Girls and Boys Town Model in all children and adolescent treatment programs.

We share this treatment model with parents through our Common Sense Parenting class. These free classes give a hands-on, practical approach to parenting.

Also offered is Parent to Parent, a class that teaches parents how to raise drug-free kids.
